Social Media Apprentice
Social Media, Email Marketing, Blogs, Videography, Photography & Motion Design
During my Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship with The Juice Academy, I worked at Regatta, where I gained hands on experience in digital marketing and design. I created engaging content while maintaining a cohesive brand identity across platforms, designed and managed email campaigns across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, and collaborated with front-end developers and UX/UI teams to enhance user experience. Using Dotdigital and Campaign Manager, I built targeted email campaigns, and my animated Instagram stories helped increase audience engagement. I also brought a fresh perspective to a legacy brand, helping to attract a younger audience and modernise its digital presence.
The Juice Academy

I chose an apprenticeship after college rather than university because the hands on, practical approach appealed to me. I kickstarted my career with The Juice Academy, where I gained real world experience and training, allowing me to apply my skills immediately.

For the first couple of months of my apprenticeship, I was based at a small marketing agency, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I couldn’t continue there. Rather than letting this setback discourage me, I acted. I built my first online portfolio and shared it across my social networks, hoping to find a new position where I could continue my apprenticeship.

Thinking big, I reached out directly to the Director of The Juice Academy, explained my situation, and asked if she would kindly share my job post. It worked! I had multiple interviews lined up in no time. For roles that weren’t quite the right fit, I took the opportunity to encourage those companies to sign up with the apprenticeship program, helping to support other apprentices in the same situation as me.

Programme Manager - The Juice Academy
"You're so on it I'm so impressed with you Ruby! Honestly well done it's one of the best attitudes and approaches I've ever seen from an apprentice."

The Juice Academy Apprentice Cohort 19
"Ruby and I met through the Juice Academy. After just knowing her for over a year I have learnt Ruby’s creativity is most visible through her editing and photography skills. With great knowledge of the marketing scene, she always strives for more. From sharing advice to being very keen to learn in various ways, this portrays only a small amount of how she thrives in her role of E-commerce creative assistant."
Kate Person
Associate Director - Cunning Plan
"Ruby has something that you can't teach, natural creativity! She came to Cunning Plan as an apprentice yet she brought with her original ideas that taught the team a lot too. Her raw creativity was honed in areas such as videography, film editing and photography, working on live accounts and helping to deliver good results."

Here's a few blogs from my time working at a Digital Marketing Agency at the beginning of my apprenticeship.
A day in the life
of an Apprentice
"Arriving at my desk, I begin to check my emails for Google Alerts; to help me spot new trends, inspirational stories, and of course news about our current clients that we may have to react to on social media."
The best Veganuary campaigns on the menu
"Veganuary is bigger than ever in 2020 with brands battling it out for their place on Peta’s pedestal, in a traditionally quiet trading period for brands. We’ve been watching with interest here at Cunning Plan HQ. Here’s a round-up of the best Veganuary campaigns of 2020 so far…"
Introduce your brand with video
Visual assets should target the emotional needs of your audience and speak to them through thumb stopping videos. 49% of UK adults say they haven’t read a book in the last year according to TGI consumer data from Kantar Media. In the fast-paced world of social media, long copy is out, and short-form videos are in!
